Day 2. Enchantments 0 miles

Since everyone was pretty pooped from yesterday’s hike, the consensus was that we chill today and explore the lake and then Wednesday day hike up into the Core Enchantment zone. We woke up at about 8, got some breakfast, and then headed out as a group a little further around the lake.

The morning coffee crew

Can’t get over this view...

We soon came upon a SWEET swimming spot and a few small tensites. We discussed as a group and thought there might be less mosquitos at this more wind-exposed site, so we all decided to move our camp down the trail about 1/4 mile.

Epic jumping rock!!

Close quarters but making it work!

I don’t know how this will look on the computer, but here’s a full iPhone pano-view from the jumping rock.

We are so stoked that we made the gamble because there are considerably less mosquitos here! Speaking of mosquitos, check out some of Claire’s battle scars from yesterday.. She must have close to 30 bites on her   body... :(

Pobrecita!!

We all jumped in the lake and some of us explored the nearby island. Davey and I climbed up a pretty huge rock that Michael had scrambled up yesterday. WAY harder to get down than up! Hahaha.

Davey, Paul, and I (Davey jumped closer to “two” than “three” :p)

Nick and Megs swimming back from the island

Speaking of Nick, here’s two photos he took yesterday and Airdopped to me today. Yay for iPhones!!

Mountain goat! Claire and I are jealous!

Sweet swimming spot yesterday at original camp

After swimming and eating dinner 1 of 2, Claire and I went out onto the sunny peninsula near our tent site and took a sun nap on the nice warm granite.

Not too baaaaad

After the sun has set (9:15pm)

Well, there are 98% less mosquitos here, so we’re all stoked! We’re also all sunburnt, haha. Excited for tomorrow. Our food is hung, our tent is hot, and the lake is beautiful. Tomorrow we climb to Aasgard Pass!

Goodnight, and thanks for reading!

  1. Wow, that water is so inviting. I knew you would jump off that rock! Pobrecita indeed, has always been popular with those mosquitos.
